Increase the impact of your training!
"Barbara's
book has many new and practical ideas for making training stick. She
continues to impress readers with valuable suggestions." -Donald L.
Kirkpatrick
Hi, I’m Barbara Carnes, President of Carnes and Associates. For over twenty-five years I have worked with trainers and HR
professionals, and I hear over and over how frustrating it is when the
training is good and then participants go back to the job and don’t do
anything different – the training doesn’t stick.
I’ve experienced this myself as a trainer and consultant. That’s why my colleague Dora Johnson and I wrote Making Training Stick and The Making Training Stick Field Guide,
to provide Techniques to Integrate Education (TIEs) to link learning
back to the job. We’ve provided specific, step-by-step instructions
for each TIE which trainers can use in new or existing training – on
any topic – to increase back-on-the-job transfer.
Over
the years I have also found – time and again – that when participants
take an assessment of their strengths, their skills, or their behavior,
that it is a powerful motivator for them to learn and to change their
behavior. I offer a collection of assessments which I have personally
used for years, and I can tell you from experience, they work. They
help people change and they help make training stick.
The most popular assessments are based on DiSC. The DiSC model
of work behavior is a time-tested way to help employees, managers, and
sales/customer service reps improve their people skills so they can do
their jobs better.
Geared
for the trainer and HR professional who doesn’t have a lot of time to
spend preparing training or evaluating results, these time-tested tools
will increase the impact of your next training or coaching – during the
session and back on the job.
