About Prince Ahmed
 

Prince Ahmed was born in Riyadh in 1378 AH (1958). He was married and the father of five children: a son and four daughters. He received his early education at the Capital Ideal Institute in Riyadh and obtained his high school diploma in 1394 AH (1974). Then he joined Colorado Mining School for a year, where he learned English. In 1977 AH (1978) he joined Wentworth Military Academy for two years and graduated as Lieutenant. In 1978, he took a “Commando Course” in Fort Riley, Kansas, after which he joined the Air Defense Sector in the Saudi Armed Forces as 1st Lieutenant. Later, he enrolled at the University of California, Irvine, where he earned his BA in Sociology, with a specialization in Comparative Cultures. He started his working life as an Officer in the Saudi Armed Forces, and reached the rank of Captain. By 1985, he had taken to business, and founded the ASSAS International Corporation, which specializes in construction, maintenance and operation. Since 1989, he had been the Chairman of the board of Directors of the Saudi Group for Research and Marketing.

 

On the social and humanitarian side, he expended attention and efforts in the service of a number of charitable establishments. He was Secretary General of the Prince Fahd bin Salman Charity Foundation for Kidney Failure, a member of the Handicapped Children Association, and Honorary Head of the Saudi Association for Laboratory Medicine. Prince Ahmed showed great interest in Saudi sportsmanship and athletics, and was an active honorary member of many Saudi Sport Clubs. He also had great interest in equestrian sports, and owned a company specializing in horses. He recently won the Kentucky Derby, and was chosen by the State of New York as Honorary Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Club of Horse Racing in the state.
