Posner Conspiracy

In September 2003, Gerald Posner began his crusade against the late Prince Ahmed with the release of his book "Why America Slept." In the book, he claims two "unnamed" government sources informed him that Prince Ahmed had links to Al-Qaeda and foreknowledge of the 9/11 attacks. His "sources" allegedly received this information through access to a classified interrogation of Abu Zubaydah, a top Al Qaeda operative. Even though former and current US government officials have dismissed Posner's conspiracy theory, Posner continues to garner attention for allegations he himself has called "unproven."

Unger Redux

Craig Unger's book "House of Bush, House of Saud," regurgitates Posner's conspiracy theory. Although Unger calls the theory "quite controversial", he nevertheless lifted the account right out of Posner's book, without having access to Posner's "unnamed" sources. Unger's book also implies that special treatment was bestowed upon members of the Saudi Ryoal Family, to include Prince Ahmed, to fly out of the country soon after the 9/11 attacks. The 9/11 Commission, however, recently concluded that the flights were cleared by federal law enforcement agencies prior to departure.
